Our charity status
In November 2017, we converted from a Trust into a fully registered, UK based charity. We are now registered for gift aid and you can support our projects with donations.
Donating money is just one way to help. All of the projects need this kind of support and, even small amounts can make a big difference in these areas.

What your money can do
Just to give you an idea how far the money can go:
*A new pre-school building (like Vellaveli) costs £2000 to build
*Funding 5 teachers for pre-school and after school work costs just £200 per month.
*A daily meal for pre-school children at one of the schools - £30 a month
*Sponsoring a child through A Levels - £300
*Funding a full-time teacher for a year - £1200
*Micro-finance for the womens' groups (small agricultural projects / training etc) - £50-200
We are looking at funding larger educational and sporting projects - £20,000+. These include:
*A sporting academy in Batticaloa - with a cricket pitch, nets and other sporting facilities
*A retreat centre in the Wanni
*A retreat centre in the Chitwan region of Nepal
Giving your time and expertise
The thinking behind SAOK is that it is giving something of your self has a different impact. There are various ways that you can help in this way:
*Skills training - craft and design, building and construction.
*Business skills and leadership training
*Sports coaching - currently rugby, cricket and football
*Working with the women - clearing land, digging, sowing, harvesting.
