Dealing with the Floods
Ed is a young architect who visited Sri Lanka in January 2013. He presented his work in flood control to the government agent in Batticaloa and has been invited to help develop an integrated, regional plan. This could have a huge impact as flooding increases and sea levels rise. Ed also helped deliver food parcels to 'our' village during the floods.
Coaching in Rwanda
Mick is a cricket playing, world exploring journalist who came to Rwanda to help run the Inspire Sport and Leadership programme. He helped give the young girls and boys a new perspective on learning, leadership and life.
Festival of Music
In 2012, the Khan-Marcus family visited St Andrews and had a 'musical' feast. Professor Khan-Marcus is a professor in World Music in California and Zaveeni is the director of the Multi-Cultural Centre at the Univeristy of California. Their sons also are accomplished musicians and their time with the children is still talked about now.
Teaching and Coaching
In 2010 and 2011, Tom and Jill spent time teaching and coaching at the SOS Village in Pilliyandala and then at St Andrews on the east coast.

The Old Master and Young Stag
In 2010 and 2011, John Cooper, the old master spent time coaching and playing at the SOS Village and then in St Andrews. In 2011, Hal, one of his sons, joined us and taught the boys of St Johns all about rugby tackling.
Building for the Future
In 2012, Sarah took part in the building of the school at Vellaveli. She spent time teaching and playing with the girls at St Andrews. They loved her.
In July 2013, she taught English in Jaffna. Working with all age groups - children and parents - she was treated to incredible hospitality by the local families.

Star Student
Will is a talented student - he knows more about just about everything than anyone I know. Yet, it is his selflessness and his willingness to give of his time and energy others that marks him out as a very special young man. He has helped run the Inspire programmes in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
