Small Acts of Kindness in Thailand

In 2008 and 2009, we spent time in the Ban Phumvet shelter, Ban Meta juvenile prison and on the streets of Bangkok. Working alongside the teams from Friends International, a charity supporting street children in South East Asia, we organised coaching sessions and games of football, rugby and cricket.
In the mornings we ran sessions in the shelter or the prison and in the afternoons we went out to the ‘drop-in’ centres or to play some football with children out on the streets.
It was a great experience but we were lucky to have been able to do it! A new director of HR heard about the trip we planned for 2010 and decided to enforce a rule that states a volunteer must be with the charity for a minimum of 3 months.
It meant though, that we needed a new focus. And so we went to Sri Lanka.
